LEAD STORY: Renewed resource for fiscal sponsors

Greg Colvin relaunches his blog site

Fiscal sponsorship’s growing niche in the nonprofit sector welcomes the news that after an eight-year hiatus, Greg Colvin has relaunched his blog site, fiscalsponsorship.com, first begun in 2005.

Colvin, author of “Fiscal Sponsorship: 6 Ways To Do It Right,” an essential handbook for our field, celebrated the October 2019 publication of the book’s third edition with his co-author Stephanie Petit. Then, last year, he retired from Adler & Colvin and began reviving his blog, relaunching it Jan. 6, 2021.

“There’s never been a time with a greater need for people to rise up, organize themselves, imagine a better future, and assemble the resources to secure that future,” he writes on the homepage. “One resource for new public interest projects is using the umbrella of dedicated, professional 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsors.” MORE

LATEST NEWS: New 3rd edition ‘Fiscal Sponsorship: 6 Ways To Do It Right’ available now

Updates based on new laws, IRS rulings, court decisions, sponsors’ experiences

The 2019 third edition of the book that labeled and legitimized the practice of fiscal sponsorship has just been published by Study Center Press.

Fiscal Sponsorship: 6 Ways To Do It Right can be purchased online only at Study Center’s Fiscal Sponsorship Directory site, or by email or phone.

In this new edition, Gregory Colvin has a co-author, Stephanie Petit, also a member of the Adler & Colvin law firm in San Francisco, which leads the charge to embrace the efficiencies of fiscal sponsorship. Together, the co-authors have enriched the book that, when first published in 1993, turned fiscal agents into fiscal sponsors, thus carving a new niche in the nonprofit sector. MORE

FOR SPONSORS AND PROJECTS

The Fiscal Sponsor Directory thanks its supporters for their generosity.

“It’s an honor on behalf of Nonstop Wellness and personally to provide support to San Francisco Study Center and its Fiscal Sponsor Directory. In an era of “fake news,”  targeted (and often abusive) political advertising and the deepening decay of polarized politics, Study Center stands apart — a throwback to the era when journalists were committed to the notion of a democratic society with true pillars of representation. Thank you for your team’s caring commitment and credible voice. It’s a privilege to support the Fiscal Sponsor Directory and the larger vision of your mission.” — David Sloves, CEO, Nonstop Wellness, Study Center’s Benefits Administrator
