Organization description:
MEIC is a member-supported education and advocacy organization founded in 1973 to protect and restore Montana’s natural environment. MEIC monitors and lobbies state government agencies and the state legislature, educates the public about environmental issues, and provides citizens and other nonprofit groups with organizing and technical assistance. Its priority issues include energy policy and global warming, air quality, water quality, hardrock mining, and land use. The strategy and activities for each of these areas may include: monitoring and lobbying; community outreach and public education; litigation; media campaigns; technical and legal analyses; and collaboration with other organizations.
